Welcome to Harmony Haven Therapeutic Riding & Horse Rescue!
This center was the dream of a 12-year-old girl who wanted to make a difference in this world.
Tiffany wanted to help people and horses, and therapeutic riding was the business she wanted to get into. It took 15 years for her dreams to come true. On 2/27/2007, Tiffany (with the help of her staff) opened Harmony Haven Therapeutic Riding & Horse Rescue in Northern California. She did her research and training as a volunteer at PROJECT RIDE in Elk Grove, California and gained the wisdom and skills needed to open her own center. PATH International is the main source of information used now to aid our students. We have rescued over 50 horses to date.
We rescue horses and give them new jobs: therapeutic riding horses. It is good for the animals and people. If the rescued horse doesn’t work well as a therapy horse it gets adopted out to a good home. We have an extra-large arena to ride in with a very safe mounting block. Because the horses are kept out in pasture with each other we don’t keep shoes on them.
Many disabilities served since 2007

I just got back from theraputic riding at Harmony Haven. I’m an old horsewoman who had a stroke 6 months ago. It Ieft me paralyzed on my left side. While I was lying in the hospital bed wondering if I would ever walk or ride again, I cheered myself up by telling my self, “Well, now I can do theraputic riding.”
After time and physical therapy I got so I could walk with a cane and I called Harmony Haven.
I ride once a week (I get to ride Tricky Deal who is a consumate professional therapy horse.) I had read that riding horses could help a person walk better after an incapacitation like mine, that the movement of the horse is similar to our walking and helps your body remember how to walk. It’s true. It does. Today before I rode, my leg was stiff. I had trouble bending my knee, my hip was stiff, I was dragging my toe. After riding, I dismounted & walked away and my gait was almost normal. My muscles had loosened up and were working again. This happens every time I ride there.
Also since I’ve been riding there, my balance has improved, my affected arm is less stff and the stretches that that I do on horseback have loosened up my elbow and shoulder.
And there’s just something about the spirit of the horse that is generous and good and healing.
So thank you Jeannie, Tiffany, and Tricky Deal for getting me a-horseback again and helping me to heal.

Judy I am so glad that you are doing better after your stroke. I used to own Tricky Deal and am extremely happy that Jeannie took her in and she has another purpose in life after racing and breeding. Tricky Deal is a wonderful mare with such a great disposition and personality.
Hello! I am so glad that you guys came out to Lake California this evening. You certainly left us feeling positive and encouraged about our horses and our riding. We are even thinking that maybe you could come out and give a seminar, here. How awesome! Can’t wait for Monday.

We were just there a couple weeks ago. Thanks, Jeannie, for a wonderful time! My daughter, Elizabeth (8), had “the best time ever!” Thanks again!
Thank you for a great time! I cant wait to be a volunteer for your non-profit. To be a part of a group like yours will be a great way for me to learn more about rescues. I’m very happy that you apply the PATH guidelines which promotes safety and optimal outcomes in equine-assisted activities for individuals with special needs.
